Odaily Planet Daily News Bitcoin payment processing service BTCPay Server has temporarily restricted public remote connections to Lightning Network nodes running Lightning Network Daemon (LND) software. Attackers exploited a severe vulnerability to obtain credentials and transfer funds. The number of affected operators and the total amount stolen have not yet been disclosed. This restriction affects external wallets such as Zeus that connect via BTCPay Server domains or Tor onion addresses in Docker deployments, but Lightning Network payments can still continue. BTCPay Server stated that remote access functionality will be restored once security is confirmed. BTCPay Server 2.4.2 will install LND 0.21.1 and automatically regenerate macaroon credentials during standard installation. Foundation and Citadel21 have respectively disclosed that funds from their Lightning Network nodes were swept. Foundation stated that hot wallets were not affected, and the specific amounts of losses have not been disclosed.

Odaily News: Bitcoin's BIP-110 will enter the enforcement phase after block 961,632, where nodes will reject blocks that do not signal support. Monitoring page data shows that among the 1,674 blocks counted in the current cycle, only 41 blocks support BIP-110, putting the miner signal support rate at 2.45%. BIP-110, officially named "Reduced Data Temporary Softfork," plans to tighten certain data rules in Bitcoin transactions within approximately one year, restricting the size of certain data elements used by Ordinals inscriptions and multiple token protocols. The proposal is primarily distributed through Bitcoin Knots, and Bitcoin Core has not adopted it. Major mining pools such as Foundry, Antpool, F2pool, and Viabtc have not issued support signals. If BIP-110 nodes execute as planned, the network could see two transaction histories, with the majority of miners and Bitcoin Core users expected to continue using the existing rules. Australian Bitcoin exchange Hardblock stated that BIP-110 activation is expected around August 7-8 and may temporarily suspend buying, selling, deposits, and withdrawals. Lightning Network tools and analytics provider Amboss has warned of a fork risk in early August, and Australian Bitcoin exchange Bitaroo plans to freeze deposits and withdrawals as the mandatory signaling deadline approaches.

After the user enters the recipient's wallet address, the Breez SDK identifies the target blockchain, calculates the conversion route, and displays the amount, network, and fees before the payment is confirmed. The transaction is then routed through liquidity providers such as Flashnet and Boltz, converting the sender's Bitcoin into stablecoins and delivering them to the blockchain chosen by the recipient. Breez states that users still hold Bitcoin while initiating the payment, while the recipient receives stablecoins on their preferred blockchain. Odaily News A new EU report points to Bitcoin’s Lightning Network and other Layer 2 solutions as “data obfuscation” technologies that could be “abused by criminals.” The first crypto report published by the EU’s Internal Security Innovation Hub points out that in addition to technologies such as Mimblewimble, zero-knowledge proofs, token mixers, and privacy coins such as Monero and Zcash, Layer 2 solutions such as the Lightning Network could also be abused by criminals.
